Range: Republic of Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia
Habitat: Savanna, shrubland, grassland
Food: Tubers, roots
Naked mole rats are eusocial, meaning they live in large colonies in which only one female breeds. Workers (both male and female) spend their entire lives working for the colony. This social system is found in ants, bees and wasps, but it is unusual for mammals.
