Greater One-Horned Rhinoceros

Range: India and Nepal

Habitat: Grasslands, woodlands

Food: Grass, plants, fruit

Thick, armored skin protects the softer skin underneath. For protection, this rhino fights with its teeth, not its horn. Its funny name means “rhino” (nose) and “ceros” (horn).
